About the Jewish Federation of Peoria

The Jewish Federation of Peoria (JFP) is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization serving Jewish families in Peoria and the immediate surrounding communities. Its objectives include:

  • Engagement in philanthropic, cultural, and communal activities of the Jewish community
  • Cooperation among Jewish communal organizations
  • Stimulation of an interfaith spirit in Peoria and Central Illinois
  • Opposition to all forms of racial and religious prejudice and discrimination

The federation’s mission is to serve the Jewish people locally, in Israel, and throughout the world through coordinated fundraising, community-wide programming, social services, and social-cultural-educational activities. Support provides local programming as well as funding for social services, educational programs, and the needs of Jews in 60 countries around the world. These needs are met by our overseas partners – the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).

The JFP falls under the Jewish Federations of North America. JFNA represents and serves 155 Federations and 400 Jewish communities across North America, reflecting the values of social justice and human rights that define the Jewish people. In addition the JFP is a member of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA), our national community relations organization.
